The Ballard Center for Social Impact 

The Ballard Center for Social Impact is a university-based program focused on solving the world’s most pressing social problems.

The center’s aim is to Do Good. Better. using the Social Impact Cycle, a detailed and adaptive research framework to identify problems and measure solutions.

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING

Students attending BYU social impact classes also can also be employed within the Ballard Center for Social Impact. There are several initiatives allowing students to apply their classroom learning in a real-world setting. These experiences help them smoothly transition into internships and careers focused on making a positive social impact.  Below are three top Ballard Center programs led by BYU students.

STUDENT-LED EXPERIENCES

Ballard Briefs are researched white papers focusing on exploring and analyzing a social problem of the student's choice. 

Ballard Labs offer students practical experience in tackling actual social issues through projects, internships, and partnerships with various groups and communities. 

Students in charge of the Social Impact Projects team up with outside partners to gain hands-on experience applying their skills and knowledge to develop innovative solutions for social impact. 

SOCIAL IMPACT CLASSES

BYU students enhance their established BYU majors by taking either introductory social impact courses or moving through a an academic minor.  Topics include: basic and advanced social impact skills, impact investing, social impact and families, and creating organizational social value.
